Most calls we get are the same handful of problems: a torsion spring snapped on a cold morning, a cable off the drum, an opener that runs but the door won't move, or a track that's bent from a car clipping it. If you're not sure what's wrong, describe what you hear and see when it fails, grinding, a loud bang, the door stopping halfway, and that tells us more than a guess at the part name.
One limitation worth saying up front: if a part is obsolete because the door itself is decades old, we may need to order hardware rather than have it on the truck same-day. That's more common than you'd think given how much of the housing stock around here is original to the 1960s and 70s.

The Short Version
Houses in this area mostly went up between 1938 and 1996, with a lot of the stock clustered around 1962, and that shows up in the doors we're called out to fix, original tracks, older torsion setups, hardware that doesn't match what's sold today. Winters here are cold enough that a spring under stress will pick the coldest morning to let go, so expect more of those calls January through March.
We work on residential garage doors: springs, cables, rollers, tracks, openers, and panels. We don't handle commercial rolling steel doors or gate systems, so if that's what you need, we're not the right call.
A repair isn't always the answer. If the door is old enough that the track geometry is obsolete or the panels are rusted through, patching one part just delays a bigger bill. We'll tell you when replacement is the better move rather than sell you a spring for a door that's on its way out anyway.
Do you come out to Mountain Lakes or Lake Hiawatha?
Yes, both are about 2 miles from our Parsippany location, so they're some of the closer calls we take. Same-day is usually possible depending on what's broken and what's already scheduled that day.
How far will you travel for a repair?
We regularly work out to towns like Chatham, Wharton, and Kinnelon, roughly 8-9 miles from Parsippany, and occasionally further to places like Lake Mohawk or Stockholm, around 17 miles northwest. Call and give your town; we'll tell you honestly if it's in range.
My house is from the 1960s, will you have parts on the truck?
A lot of houses in this area date to that era, so we see original hardware often. Common wear parts are usually stocked, but some older track or drum configurations need to be ordered, which can add a day or two.
What don't you work on?
We handle residential garage doors, springs, openers, tracks, cables, panels, rollers. We don't do commercial rolling steel doors or security gates, so if that's your situation, look elsewhere for that job.
Why do springs seem to break more in winter here?
This area sits in a cold, severe winter climate band, and metal springs under tension are more likely to snap when temperatures drop. That's why late winter tends to bring more spring-related calls than other seasons.
